CASE / PROCESS
From production problem to final image
Challenge
Live action, Unreal Engine environments, and a large-scale explosion needed to read as one visual world.
Process
- Structured the handoffs between animation, lighting, rendering, and matchmove around Sequencer.
- Reworked an explosion test that took over 15 hours into an Axiom and cache workflow with roughly one-hour iterations.
- Reduced Unreal Engine crashes by isolating heavy meshes until final rendering, then documented the workflow for the team.
- Aligned look development and directed the composite between the Axiom explosion and Unreal Engine environment.
Result
The 33-person team completed a science-fiction short combining live action and CG.
